Onepoto Trip

On Friday all the year 4's went to Onepoto School. We went there because the Kapa Haka group was performing there. We had to bring morning tea and lunch, a hat, a drink bottle, sunblock and a raincoat for if it rained and if you wanted to you were allowed five dollars maximum. If you brought five dollars you would have to buy a ticket that had five dollars in it but in 50 cents so it was easier to buy stuff. There were four categories to choose from. There was Candycorn and Lollies, Sweets, Ice blocks and sausage sizzle. It was a ton of fun watching Pinehill School perform. We had to go in groups. There was Josh's mum's group that I was in. Mrs Hook's group and there was Kamryn's mum's group. It lasted for six hours. That was how long school took. There was a playground that had lots of people on it. Because it was a festival. There was about 32 schools from Auckland to Christchurch. We all had a great time! Pinehill School performed for about 15 minutes. We had to stay together because there were so many people.

A lovely surprise...

Today I came back from lunch to find a card on my desk with a flower and the front of the card says...

'I don't care how you look as long as you are my teacher.'

Thank you Amir it made my day! He has drawn a picture of me with my eye patch.

And that is why I love my job!

Sewing

In room 6 we have all been working very hard on our sewing. We had to design a picture that we wanted to sew onto a piece of cloth. Then we used chalk to draw the picture on to our fabric, and we have learnt to sew around the picture. Some of the hardest parts have been learning to thread the needle, and also sewing stitches that are not too long and not too short. We try to make the stitches about the width of our finger. Mrs Hook took some photos of us sewing. We are going to take photos of our sewing to stick on our wiki.

Roots of Empathy

Here is baby Kelsey. She is our Roots of Empathy Baby and teacher. She is teaching us about the different stages baby go through as they develop, and also about how to feel empathy for others. We were very excited about our very first baby visit, and we loved singing songs to Kelsey, they seemed to calm her down when she was feeling sad.

Overnight Stay

Not long now until our very exciting Overnight Stay! We are looking forward to great adventures there. Our number one hope is that we will see glow worms. Remember to pack everything you need from your equipment list, especially lunch for Thursday! We are going to do lots of team activities, so I hope you are going to give it your best. Remember to bring your favourite soft toy, and no snoring!

Snowy by Kathleen

In our classroom there is a baby budgie. Mrs Hook just got it yesterday after school. It is called Snowy and we have to give him birdseed and water. Every day he needs fresh water and it has to be up to the top of the tray and the food has to be up to the top of the tray as well.

He always stands on the perch. He has purple dots on his beak and he has pink feet. He is white and timid and he has a very long tail. He is not very old. He also has a toy that has a mirror so he can look at himself.
